While retail analyst Holly Guthrie sees the threat of inflation and rising interest rates pressuring disposable income in 2006, she's not giving up on the American shopper. "The consumer will be there," she says, "They will be spending most definitely, especially on their kids at the holidays and for unique items."

From her coverage list, Guthrie singles out Urban Outfitters (nasdaq: URBN - news - people ) as a bullish bet. She thinks the company--also proprietor of the Anthropologie and Free People retail outlets--could quadruple its store count. "It's one of the best-managed companies in the retail sector," she says, noting its tendency to carefully incubate concept ideas before rolling them out.

Note: In the last five years, Urban Outfitter's share price has enjoyed a good run and now stands at a pricey 46 times above latest 12-month earnings per share. It may be worth it, if you believe profit projections from Wall Street. 'Urban Outfitters moves to new corporate headquarters

Urban Outfitters, a multi-channel apparel retailer, is moving to a new Philadelphia corporate campus that will contain its headquarters and the operations of its three brands: Anthropologie, Free People and Urban Outfitters.
The new campus will support the company’s expectations of doubling its business over the next five years, Urban Outfitters said. The campus will be developed in multiple phases in Philadelphia’s Navy Yard, starting with an estimated $40 million renovation of eight historic buildings totaling 287,000 square feet. The initial phase will provide for the consolidation of more than 500 corporate employees from five other Philadelphia locations. Additional development phases may add another 100,000 square feet through the renovation of adjacent buildings.
“The Navy Yard provides us with a spectacular and unique opportunity to create a brand-appropriate campus, consolidate our staffs and support our dynamic growth while remaining in our home town of Philadelphia,” said chairman and president Richard A. Hayne.'

Sometimes I really miss having pets, I grew up always having a pet or two around. But now its a 2 1/2 year old to pick up after..... oh and a husband. Although, he swears the mess is all mine.

I found an interesting article online in the Wharton Journal from 11/14. It's called the secrets of retailing, revealed. They had some speakers talk to student audiences as they say to continue in their mission to expose Whartonites to the fashion and retail industries. One of the speakers was Kimberly Greenberger, Director, Retailing - Softlines at Citigroup Investment Research. Some of her comments:

• 'Greenberger discussed how specialty stores such as Anthropologie stand the best chance of maintaining prices and margins for the industry. Apparel is an emotional purchase, not one of necessity. The design, price, quality, ability to merchandise, and customer service of stores like Anthropologie "get the consumer over the hurdle to make the purchase they don't need." '.

This chair is simply beautiful to look at. It has a white wash patina and appears carved to perfection. Having said that I still wouldn't dish out $248. for this madeline chair. But I AM in love!!! (set of 4 = $800.)

I am a pillow person... I just love to be surrounded by lots of beautiful pillows. My husband is always throwing them at me, so he can make room to get into his side of the bed. Already Christmas!

Remember the good ole days when you didn't see Christmas stuff till after Thanksgiving or atleast the week of. Well that's long gone.
So I guess I should start, since its almost mid-November. I just feel stressed when I think of all the gifts I have to buy. And I always seem to buy a gift for me everytime I buy one for someone else..do you see how expensive this can get? : )
